Figure 1. Growth of Campus Compact (1985-2005)

Campus Compact membership has increased dramatically over the past 18 years, from 4 member institutions in 1985 to 975 in October 2005.
53% of survey respondents were from public two- and four-year institutions and 47% were from private two-year and four-year institutions.
Figure 2. Institutional Characteristics

Of the 454 respondents who reported on their full-time equivalent undergraduate enrollment, a total number of 3,137,568 students were accounted for. Enrollment among member institutions ranged from 235 to 80,124 students with an average enrollment of 6,911 students per campus. These rates are generally consistent with an average of 6,836 students in 2003-04, 7,037 students in the 2002-03 year and 7,185 students in the 2001-02 year. As shown in Figure 4, 29% of schools had more than 7,500 students, followed by 23% of schools with less than 1,500 students, 1,501 to 3000 students (26%), and 3,001 to 7,500 students (23%).
