Bernard J. Milano is president and a trustee of the KPMG Foundation and president and trustee of the KPMG Disaster Relief Fund.
Mr. Milano graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, and started his career with KPMG in the audit practice of the Philadelphia office. Prior to his current roles as president of the KPMG Foundation and the KPMG Disaster Relief Fund, he held positions of increasing responsibility including National Partner in Charge of University Relations and National Partner in Charge of Human Resources. He lives with his wife, Sharon, and sons Matthew and Adam in Allendale, New Jersey. Mr. Milano has four older children and six grandchildren. Mr. Milano holds honorary degrees of Doctor of Humane Letters from North Carolina A&T State University and Kent State University.
Among Mr. Milano’s activities he president and member of the Board of Directors of The PhD Project Association, a member of the Boards of the Points of Light Foundation, Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), Beta Gamma Sigma, and the Business Civic Leadership Center (an affiliate of U. S. Chamber of Commerce).
He is also chair of the Dean’s Executive Advisory Council at North Carolina A&T State University; of the Business Advisory Board at Ramapo College Anisfield School of Business; and for the HBCU Business Deans’ Roundtable Business Advisory Board.
Mr. Milano is a member of the Board of Governors of Ramapo College (NJ) Foundation; treasurer and chair of the Finance Committee (Foundation Chairman 2002-2006); member of Audit and Planned Giving Committees, a member of the U. S. Chamber of Commerce – Education, Employment and Training Committee, and a member of the Executive Committee of The Conference Board Contributions Council.
His recent awards include a 2009 MLK Special Achievement Award from Bentley University, Waltham, MA, the 2008 Beta Alpha Psi President’s Award, a 2007 honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Kent State University, and Mr. Milano was named one of the Top 20 Diversity Champions by Diversity Edge Magazine in 2007.
Among Mr. Milano’s other professional and educational activities he served on President Bush’s Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (2002-2009), and on Campus Compact’s Board of Directors from 1998-2004. He also sat on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America, Northern New Jersey Council (2008-2009).
