Purpose
Since 1987, Campus Compact has conducted an annual survey of its membership for the purpose of measuring growth in community service and service-learning, and identifying issue areas and trends. The results presented in this report come from a survey of Campus Compact members conducted in summer 2001 by the Public Opinion Laboratory of the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University.
Methodology
The Public Opinion Laboratory of the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University distributed surveys and collected responses from members of the Campus Compact regarding their involvement and the activities of their students and faculty in service projects. After an initial mailing in April, several follow-up mailings and phone calls were placed to encourage as many respondents as possible to participate in the survey. Of the 730 members surveyed, 327 responded for a return rate of 45 percent.
