Mentors Needed: Bunim/Murray Productions Casting New Reality Program to Help Families in Need

We recently received the following note from one of the producers of a new television program. It reads as follows:

“I work in television and would like to honor more programs like yours. I am currently working on a documentary-style program and we are looking for candidates to help mentor teens. This program is designed to give specific families hope after their teen meets a mentor who is on their level. This mentor can help them better understand their own emotions and better communicate with the people in their lives.

Here is a little bit more about the show:

Bunim/Murray Productions (producers of Project Runway and the documentary, Autism: The Musical) is casting a new show designed to help families in need. We are looking for an inspiring and passionate MENTOR for a troubled teenager. This mentor will work with the family and teen to change the family dynamics and help the teenager get on the right path. We’re searching for a person who can successfully build a relationship with the teen and inspire positive life changes. If you or someone you know has the tools to evoke change and can effortlessly connect and communicate with a teen in crisis, please send photos and a description of your mentoring/social work or other related experience to mentorcasting {at} bunim-murray(.)com

We would love to give an amazing mentor a platform to show how much a dedicated friend could mean to a teen and their whole family. Please pass along this information or putting me in the right direction in hopes of finding the perfect mentor for this project? Or do you have a mentor in mind that might be interested in this experience?

Journal Seeks Peer Reviewers

The editors of the Journal of Public Scholarship in Higher Education are currently recruiting a national peer review board for the inaugural issue (to be published August/September 2011). Reviewers must have a record of peer-reviewed published work, as well as a commitment to advancing public scholarship–academic inquiry that engages/responds to community issues while also serving to generate new disciplinary knowledge and/or pedagogical practice. The Leader to Leader Institute, a nonprofit organization whose focus is to strengthen the leadership of the social sector has an exciting opportunity for Emerging Leaders who are making an impact in their community:

In connection with our Leadership Dialogues program (www.leadertoleader.org/dialogues) – Leader to Leader is inviting students to participate in the Emerging Leader Video Challenge (A downloadable PDF can be accessed on our homepage: www.leadertoleader.org)

We are inviting student leaders to submit a “leadership experience” Video.

The most inspiring videos will be displayed on the Leadership Dialogues website along with leaders including Richard Branson, Tony Hsieh and Frances Hesselbein.

One especially inspiring student will be invited to the annual Leader of the Future gala this Fall to have their video screened at the event.

The Video Challenge is a way to share this generation’s leadership spirit with the world and inspire others to serve.
