Phylis Lan Lin

Dr. Lan Lin has been intregal in shaping service-learning at the University of Indianapolis (U Indy). She has taken an international approach and assures that countries not often thought about in terms of service-learning are sitting at the table. In the fall 2005, she and others from U Indy collaborated with Stellenbosch University in South Africa to host the 1st Annual Symposium on International Service-Learning (held in South Africa). In the spring of 2007 she brought folks from all over the world to host the 2nd Annual Symposium on International Service-Learning — this time partnering with Campus Compact and Ningbo Institute in China.

Dr. Lynn is great at facilitating conversations around civic reflection and getting folks to think “outside of the box” as it comes to reflecting on the work we do. National Campus Compact brought her to the Network Directors’ Meeting in Austin, Texas, in January 2008. She and the Project on Civic Reflection have been a jewel to have in our state — they should be shared at the national level.

Jon is one of our NNE faculty consultants. He is one of the leaders using service-learning in Vermont and is becoming known nationally for his work and his students’ work on global climate change. He is an excellent teacher and facilitator. He won VCC’s Engaged Scholar award in 2007.

Randy has worked very closely as a commuity partner with Middlebury College and has much to offer around topics of service-learning, community partner development, global citizenship issues. He has been appointed Research Scholar in the Environmental Studies Program at Middlebury College. He could talk from the faculty viewpoint, as well as the community partner viewpoint; he is a strong advocate of community engagement in higher education.
