Expertise in higher education; research on service learning; I have used her repeatedly for trainings, consultations with campuses, and for our own evaluation, research and assessment work. Joe has extensive experience in service learning leadership, even as a junior faculty member. He has incorporated service learning in his sociology courses by having students interview Bowdoin faculty about their concerns and support of s-l and has been instrumental in the success of the development service learning on his campus.

Craig was Dean for Academic Affairs during the six years that Bowdoin went from a Community Service Resource Center staffed by just one VISTA to an endowed, fully staffed Center for the Common Good. This first-hand experience offers him unique awareness and skills in sharing the obstacles and vehicles for significant institutional change. He also uses service learning in his return to teaching sociology.

Dr. Lynn is great at facilitating conversations around civic reflection and getting folks to think “outside of the box” as it comes to reflecting on the work we do. National Campus Compact brought her to the Network Directors’ Meeting in Austin, Texas, in January 2008. She and the Project on Civic Reflection have been a jewel to have in our state — they should be shared at the national level.

Jon is one of our NNE faculty consultants. He is one of the leaders using service-learning in Vermont and is becoming known nationally for his work and his students’ work on global climate change. He is an excellent teacher and facilitator. He won VCC’s Engaged Scholar award in 2007.

Related to Question #5, Public issues are flexible and broad because dialogue and facilitation skills can be used effectively for a wide variety of issues.
In addition, Lisa could also address identity issues including sexual orientation, religious and class background and more.

We have known Cheryl as a dedicated community partner working with Middlebury College through her role at People of Addison County Together, a regional partnership of the Agency of Human Services in Vermont.
