South Carolina Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA Leader

Member Duties : Plan, create & implement a series of activities to support achievement of key service plan indicators for our VISTA team. Connect VISTA team to resources & best practices on a variety of topics. Track progress on reporting tools. Maintain regular communications with VISTAs to recognize accomplishments, provide support, motivation & feedback. Plan & conduct annual VISTA site visits to 17 campuses. Plan & facilitate regional VISTA meetings in fall/spring. Plan agenda & facilitate weekly conference call with VISTAs Plan & facilitate Mid-service Training (Jan ’14). Coordinate recruitment of VISTA members for 2014-15. Act as an ambassador for SCCC. Work with campus coordinator action team to plan & implement SCCC Service Learning Conference & Statewide Civic Engagement Awards. We are pleased to offer an opportunity for affordable off-campus housing. Term of service is 365 days and begins Aug. 2013. Service Description : South Carolina Campus Compact is a statewide coalition of 17 colleges and universities that work together to demonstrate the civic purpose of higher education in our state. We seek an AmeriCorps*VISTA Leader with skills and experience that will inspire and motivate our VISTA Members for the 2013-14 academic year. SCCC’s VISTA Leader will support a statewide team of up to 26 AmeriCorps*VISTAs who work closely with faculty, staff, community partners, and local schools to develop programming, which mobilizes college students to impact poverty in SC. Our office is located on the campus of Winthrop University, just 20 minutes south of Charlotte in the metrolina region of North and South Carolina. An ideal VISTA Leader has demonstrated strong leadership experience, takes initiative, is organized, innovative, skilled at problem-solving, fluent with MS Office products and social networking. Event planning experience is considered an asset. Applicants MUST have successfully completed one term as a VISTA member prior to starting the position. SCCC aims to improve the ability of higher education institutions to partner with their communities to collectively impact community needs and provide real world learning for college students through community service and service learning opportunities. SCCC is a member of National Campus Compact, a coalition of 1,100 college and university presidents – representing some 6 million students! Essential functions and qualifications: Applicant MUST have successfully completed one term as a VISTA member prior to starting the position. Bachelor’s degree. Community service leadership and volunteer experience. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and computer skills. Ability to work independently to accomplish desired outcomes. Valid driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle. Desired functions and qualifications: Experience in college access and success.

The most valuable services from Connecticut Campus Compact are faculty training on service-learning course development, VISTA program coordination and support, conference sponsorship for CSDs, and facilitating linkages between campuses and community leaders and organizations."
