Join the Florida Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA Initiative, and take another step towards becoming the Leader we know you are!
We are looking for two individuals to be our next AmeriCorps VISTA Leaders starting in August 2012. The AmeriCorps VISTA Leaders will work with the Florida Campus Compact VISTA Initiative, AmeriCorps VISTA members, site supervisors and community partners to carry out the following activities in accordance with project goals:
Member outreach and support:
•Provide leadership and assistance to VISTA members and project sites with implementing the plan of work.
•Assist members with making successful transition to project sites and communities.
•Act as liaison between members and site supervisors to solve problems and resolve issues.
•Develop and implement a plan for rewarding and recognizing member accomplishments.
Member training and technical assistance:
•Organize and conduct VISTA member trainings.
•Assist site supervisors with implementing on-site orientation and training.
•Coordinate technical assistance to VISTA members.
•Develop educational resources for members on topics such as forming advisory groups, recruiting and training volunteers, grant writing, achieving sustainability, etc.
Networking, marketing, and member recruitment:
•Promote the FL|CC VISTA Initiative project.
•Foster networking between VISTA members via conference calls.
•Coordinate the recruitment of project sites to host VISTA members.
•Coordinate the recruitment of VISTA members using the CNCS online recruitment database and recruiting fairs.
•Expand program web site and social media to better serve members, site supervisors, and public audiences.
Program sustainability and marketing:
•Assist project supervisor with implementing a plan for fundraising and resource development, including grant writing.
Site monitoring and evaluation:
•Develop and implements a plan for information management and record-keeping.
•Assist project supervisor with site monitoring visits.
•Collect information from project sites and assist director with compiling quarterly progress reports submitted to CNCS.
VISTA Leader development:
•Successfully complete VISTA Leader Training.
•Successfully complete orientation to FL|CC.
•Develop and maintain a service portfolio, documenting learning and project accomplishments.
•Participate in weekly meetings with the FL|CC VISTA Director, and monthly conference calls with project sites.
•Complete VISTA Leader six month evaluation and monthly leave reports in a timely manner.
•Participate in exit interview at end of service.
We are looking for an individual(s) with these preferred skills and qualifications:
•Completed at least one term of AmeriCorps*VISTA
•At least a Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate life experience.
•A desire to make a positive difference in the lives of national service participants and low income communities.
•Experience with Campus Compact programs, or higher education, adult education and training, volunteer management, events planning, and fundraising.
•Outstanding organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, and Microsoft software skills.
•Exceptional capacity to lead persons of diverse backgrounds and in diverse community and organizational settings.
•An ability to set goals, take initiative, and work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
•An ability to meet deadlines, work flexibly, and effectively handle stress.
•An ability to live at the poverty level, while serving 40 hours per week for one year.
•A willingness to forego part-time work while serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA Leader.
•Willingness for in-state travel.
