Vermont Campus Compact is currently seeking a creative and motivated individual to work in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont as an AmeriCorps*VISTA at the Lyndon State College’s Patrick and Marcelle Leahy Center for Rural Student. The VISTA will be responsible for designing and implementing the Early Promise Advising program for local middle school students. The goal of the program is to increase students’ postsecondary aspirations. It will follow an educational, group based format using direct instruction and workshop presentations to encourage students to think positively about and have concrete plans for completing postsecondary education. The VISTA will also arrange for students to visit Lyndon State College. This position will help build the Center’s capacity to better serve low income students as they work to access and succeed in higher education. A successful candidate will have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, enjoy working with children, and commit to helping local underserved students succeed.
