Florida Campus Compact VISTA Initiative (FL|CC)

The FL|CC VISTA Initiative contributes to the missions of FL|CC and the Corporation for National and Community Service by placing VISTA members with colleges, universities and community-based organizations. The FL|CC AmeriCorps VISTA Initiative provides resources, networking opportunities, and training for VISTA members. FL|CC VISTA members work to combat poverty through leveraging higher education resources to build the capacity of local non-profit organizations and through recruiting and training college students to provide college access mentoring for youth. FL|CC VISTA members are successfully building bridges between the classrooms and communities by connecting educators, students, and community partners to improve education and address societal needs through campus-community partnerships, applied civic education, and engaged citizenship.

Member Duties: FL|CC VISTA members enable students to leverage human, financial, and material resources to increase the capacity of low-income communities across Florida. FL|CC VISTA members recruit and train college students to provide college access mentoring for youth. FL|CC VISTA members also leverage higher education resources to support VISTA/CNCS priority areas: Economic Opportunity (Asset Development, Financial Literacy, Community Economic Development, Housing, & Employment) Education (FL|CC focus is College Access Mentoring & Science, Technology Engineering & Math/STEM) Healthy Futures (Access to Healthcare, Healthcare Services, & Veterans & Military Families)

Program Benefits:
Childcare assistance if eligible, Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend, Education award upon successful completion of service, Health Coverage, Living Allowance, Some project sites offer housing, Relocation Allowance, Stipend, Training

Prohibits paid work outside of the sponsoring agency at any time
