Home Energy Conservation Corpsmember

Home Energy Conservation corpsmembers work with a small team to perform the installation of energy and water saving measures, including but not limited to aerators, compact florescent light bulbs, water efficient showerheads, and high-efficiency toilets in low-income households in the Metro Denver area. Corpsmember also educate residents about the environmental and financial benefits of using less energy and assemble Energy Conservation kits that are mailed to clients. They actively participate in weekly environmental education and team building activities, work on service projects, and work towards future career goals with job readiness training.

Corpsmembers must possess a high school diploma or GED and be between 18 and 24 years of age. Corpsmember must be able to lift 50 lbs. and must have a valid driver\’s license. A pre-employment background check and drug screen are required.

This is a temporary position from February 1 to July 2, 2010. Corpsmembers will work Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Corpsmembers earn an hourly wage of $8.00 and may be eligible for mid-program raise of $.50 based on performance. Corpsmember may also be eligible for a $200 bonus at the end of term based on performance. A Corpsmember is eligible for a $1,250 AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion of 450 hours of service. Application deadline is January 22, 2010.
