Montana Campus Compact AmeriCorps*VISTA Leader

The Montana Campus Compact AmeriCorps*VISTA Project (MTCC VISTA) is currently accepting applications for the MTCC VISTA Leader position (APPLICANTS MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE ONE VISTA SERVICE TERM BEFORE BECOMING A VISTA LEADER). MTCC AmeriCorps*VISTA members work with campuses and community-based organizations to promote civic engagement and increase resources to assist low-income populations. VISTAs build infrastructure to better position higher education to engage its resources in community needs. This work often incorporates community organizing, grant writing, volunteer recruitment and awareness-raising. MTCC AmeriCorps*VISTAs perform the following tasks: raising funds to support programs and scholarships, creating resource guides, databases and web-sites to connect citizens with volunteer opportunities, promoting service learning and campus based volunteerism, writing grants to support community service projects and linking campus volunteer centers with community needs.

Member Duties: The VISTA Leader will support operations of the MTCC VISTA program, maintain ongoing contact with each VISTA member and campus supervisors through site visits, regular phone & email contact to create a support network for VISTA members. Assist in coordinating, planning and implementing a year-long training series for VISTA members. Work on the recruitment, selection and placement of all MTCC VISTAs. Help build capacity of the MTCC network by developing and expanding AmeriCorps*VISTA projects. Publicize program success through various media outlets, prepare regular reports on the VISTAs work for the state office (CNCS).
