Rhode Island Campus Compact AmeriCorps*VISTA – June 2012 start

RICC AmeriCorps VISTAs are uniquely positioned to build linkages between higher education and PK-12 schools and non-profit agencies around our core program areas of: access to post-secondary education opportunities, college success, and supporting the capacity of community non-profits.

The VISTA member starting in June 2012 will be serving at University of Rhode Island with the First Star URI Ram Academy.

Member Duties: RICC AmeriCorps VISTAs will perform a wide variety of service activities in support of the goals and objectives of the program. Key activities will include:

  • Leverage community-based organizations and their partnerships with higher education and PK12 schools
  • Increase awareness of and access to higher education resources
  • Work with college and PK12 students connecting them to their local community through volunteer recruitment, training, and leadership development
  • Develop and leverage resources to help colleges better connect their community
  • Build and implement programs, systems, and services within the field of education

Car recommended, Permits attendance at school during off hours, Prohibits paid work outside of the sponsoring agency at any time
