Higher Education, Elevated — Utah Campus Compact seeks a self-starter to support and motivate a state-wide team of VISTAs (Volunteers In Service To America) focused on college access and success!
Position Title: Utah Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA Leader
Service Site: Utah Campus Compact Office Salt Lake City, Utah
Open Date: January-April 2013
Position Start-End Date: April 2013- April 2014
Step forward, experience building the esprit de corps within the UCC VISTA team by providing relevant training, outreach, and a fresh perspective to further the capacity-building efforts of 12-16 UCC VISTAs located throughout the state of Utah. Leveraging the connectedness of the UCC network along with the energy from the state-wide effort to increase post-secondary credential attainment from 39% to 66% by 2020, the UCC VISTA Leader will help provide member development, program administration support, and be a mentor and resource generator for the UCC VISTA team.
UCC VISTA Leader duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Member outreach and support: Encourage communication, information sharing, and resource development for the UCC VISTA team
2. Member training: Facilitate community building and skill development by creating curriculum for and coordinating teleconferences, training opportunities, retreats, etc.
3. Member recruitment: Support placement of VISTA candidates by leading and making improvements upon the recruitment process
4. Administrative Support : Collect, record, and track monthly and quarterly reports from VISTAs, develop aggregate data for VISTA quarterly reports, maintain contact with CNCS staff, develop program materials, and
conduct site visits throughout Utah

To qualify as a VISTA Leader:
• Completed at least one term of AmeriCorps VISTA service (required)
• Willingness to live at the poverty level, while serving 40 hours per week for one year
• Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate life experience
• A desire to make a positive difference in the lives of national service participants and low income communities
• Ability to work independently as a highly-motivated self-starter who is capable of meeting deadlines, multi-tasking, and working within a team-oriented environment
• Exceptional capacity to lead persons of diverse backgrounds and in diverse community and organizational settings
• Strong interest and experience in college service programs
• Strong writing and organizational skills
• Ability to drive
