This VISTA Leader position is based with Maine Commission for Community Service in Augusta, Maine. Please note that VISTA Leader eligibility requires successful completion of one AmeriCorps VISTA term of service. The Maine Commission for Community Service sponsors the Maine VISTA project, a program that places VISTA members around the state working on a variety of projects. The Maine VISTA Project initiatives include: supporting service learning implementation state-wide;
improving volunteer recruitment, coordination, and management practices in local non-profits; assisting in programs for youth and families; developing programs to help veterans and military families; and helping expand healthy living programs in the community. The VISTA Leader is instrumental in supporting the project as a whole; by serving as a role model for other VISTAs; coordinating recruitment of new VISTA members; helping to report on project accomplishments, and implementing orientation and training for the VISTA members.
