Program Description:
Join the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA) AmeriCorps program providing critical support to early childhood centers in the Greater Milwaukee Area. Work with children while their teachers attend classes, create unique projects, improve child literacy, and much more. At the same time, gain access to professional development, and valuable work experience.
Service Position Description:
-Provision of Care to Children 0-5 Years Old
-Contribute to Early Childhood Programming (curriculum planning, hands-on projects, etc…)
-Volunteer Recruitment
-Serve Community
Qualifications:
-U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States
-High School Diploma or G.E.D (and must be able to provide documentation if selected for an interview) -Prior experience (or desire to) working with children
-Able to meet criminal background requirements
-Energy, and desire to make a difference
-Value working with and among a group of people diverse in backgrounds, and experiences
Financial Compensation:
This is considered a full-time service position, and not a job. Members receive a living allowance (up to $11,800) for their service over a number of months (completing 1700 hours of service total). Please refer to the benefits section included below for additional details.

Position Start Date:
The position starts November 29, 2010, and ends when members complete 1700 hours of service. This is usually done over the course of about 11 months. Projected end month is September 2011.
Service Position Schedule:
-Expect to work Monday through Thursday (completing at least 32 hours) at an early childhood center in the Greater Milwaukee area. Members will have at least four hours of scheduled “AmeriCorps time” every week to work or plan for AmeriCorps related projects. The exact number of hours served a week are subject to the need of the member, the host site, as well as what amount of hours are needed to be completed weekly to reach 1700 hours.
-On Fridays (8 hours total) WECA AmeriCorps members will participate in intensive professional development and other opportunities as they arise.
