Call for Programs and Presentations

The mission of this conference is to provide all constituents the opportunity to come together and learn from one another about city and university practices that build positive relationships and address Town Gown concerns. The Best Practices in Building University/City Relations Conference is an opportunity for city officials & employees, higher education officials, community members, law enforcement, city & higher education planners and students to showcase the successes they have had in building Town Gown relationships and partnerships. If you have an outstanding program or initiative that is helping to unite a university and city please submit a program or roundtable proposal.

Topic Suggestions

Listed below are some topics which are appropriate for conference workshops:

City Codes/Local Laws – Program proposals under this learning outcome will include local laws, ordinances, or special projects by these offices that are helping positively impact town gown relations.

Neighborhood Relations/Associations – Program proposals under this learning outcome will include neighborhood efforts to address concerns with students living off-campus.

City Planning & Transportation – Program proposals under this learning outcome can include what cities are doing to address the sprawl of students off campus.

Education – Program proposals under this learning outcome can include educational programs that the university and city offices are providing to prepare and support students living off campus.

Advocacy – Program proposals under this learning outcome can include efforts of city council members or student government on campus to support the rights of students living in a community.

Constituents – Program proposals under this learning outcome can include law enforcement, neighborhood association officers, student government member, etc to talk about the issues they see and what they are doing to help build positive relationships between the city and university constituents.
