Fifth Annual Multi-State Conference
July 9-11, 2007
Embassy Suites Hotel New Orleans Convention Center

We invite your participation in the Fifth Annual Multi-State Conference on Civic Engagement, July 9-11, 2007, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The conference will bring together colleagues from Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and beyond to explore the multiple perspectives on service-learning and civic engagement; share program models and best practices; and network with service-learning practitioners, and community partners.

Please send a send a separate proposal for each activity (i.e., you can submit a proposal for more than one session/roundtable) for a concurrent session presentation or a roundtable discussion.

CONFERENCE AUDIENCE

Participants will include learners and educators from diverse constituencies: faculty, students, administrators, and service-learning coordinators; VISTA members; and government, community agency and partners.

CONFERENCE GOALS:

Enhancing practical service-learning skills and deepening philosophical understanding of participants;

Sharing evidence of enhanced student learning outcomes;

Exploring diverse perspectives on service-learning theory and practice;

Communicating ideas and practical solutions to service-learning challenges;

Offering provocative, inclusive, and interactive conference sessions;

Providing time for informal discussions and networking;

Building a regional network of service-learning colleagues;

Showcasing service-learning efforts; and

Celebrating successes, rejuvenating, and reconnecting to the broader service community.
