Community members, non-profit organizations and change-agents, staff, faculty and students from higher education and secondary school are invited to submit proposals for the engage NOW conference. Proposals for presentations, workshops, case studies and poster presentations relating to campus-community partnerships, community development, Community-Based Research and Community Service-Learning are welcome.

Inspired by the Dalai Lama’s visit to Calgary in September 2009, engage NOW draws on compassion, connectedness and collaboration to explore the potential of campus-community partnerships to enhance student learning and promote positive social change and community development. engage NOW is a 1-day conference focusing on community-university engagement designed to enhance service-learning and community-based research in the city of Calgary, the province of Alberta, and the nation as a whole. engage NOW is an opportunity for higher education and the City of Calgary to engage with each other with the goal of developing mutually beneficial partnerships for service, research, and community-based learning. It is also an opportunity for students in Calgary and the rest of Alberta to learn about community engagement, and share their own experiences with service-learning, research and other forms of community-based experiential learning. engage NOW brings together staff, faculty and students in higher education with high school youth, and our community partners.

We want to develop a student leadership program to provide support to our local agencies with the majority of work being done recruiting campus organizations to serve at various sites. The Campus Compact material was the most useful resource thus far. Thank you!"
