North Carolina Campus Compact is now accepting workshop proposals for the 2011 PACE Conference. The conference will be held on February 9, 2011 at Elon University, Elon, NC. This annual conference provides participants with valuable information and skills they can utilize in their civic engagement work. Workshops, presented by faculty, staff, and community partners, provide “how to,” “best practice” and “research and theory” information and resources for any aspect of civic engagement work from service-learning to social entrepreneurship.

We invite faculty, scholars, administrators, community partners and students who are involved in campus-based civic engagement research, instruction and practice to submit presentation proposals for this annual gathering. Conference participants will include learners and educators from each constituency. Participant familiarity with civic-engagement ranges from beginner to advanced.

Conference Goals
• Introduce participants to definitions and tools for becoming “the engaged campus”
• Enhance practical community engagement skills
• Deepen participants’ understanding of community engagement, exploring diverse and newer perspectives on community engagement theory and practice
• Highlight current research on related topics
• Host informal and interactive conference sessions
• Recognize an outstanding faculty and civic engagement administrator for their contributions to the field

I want to thank Washington Campus Compact for working so hard throughout our state to support and expand service learning. Just in the last three years, you've helped to mobilize over 20,000 college and university students to serve in their communities."
