Role: Points of Light Institute Research Fellow
Title: Social Impact Fellow
Time Commitment: 16 Hours Per Week,
Stipend: $8,500 Per Semester
Dates of Position: Now through August 30, 2011
Major Desired: Ph.D in Nonprofit Management and Administration, Political Science, Policy Studies or Sociology
We will accept the following types of students: __x_ Credit _x__ Non-Credit
Summary of Position:
Working with the Chief Strategy and Public Policy Officer, the Fellow will conduct secondary research to explore the degree of impact the service sector has in affecting social change. As project manager for this effort the Social Impact Fellow will work with skills-based volunteers, internal staff and external sector leaders and stakeholders in order to:

1. Identify, summarize and analyze publicly available relevant research conducted to date on if and how service has proven effective as a strategy for creating social change in the areas of environment, education, economy and emergency preparedness and response.
2. Outline recommendations for further study and research
3. Make recommendations on policy implications of the research
4. Draft white paper(s)/presentation(s) for dissemination to sector

The successful candidate will be a positive team player with excellent thought leadership, writing and research, communication and presentation skills.
