The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky is dedicated to addressing the unmet health care needs of Kentuckians. The Foundation’s Investing in Kentucky’s Future Initiative is designed to improve the health of Kentucky’s children by engaging communities in testing innovative strategies. The focus is on Kentucky communities where civic leaders are committed to working together to promote the physical and behavioral health and well-being of children ages 5 through 18 by supporting local systems, environments, and policies that reduce risks for chronic diseases and help children practice healthy behaviors for a lifetime. In 2013 the Foundation plans to provide grants ranging from $20,000 to $40,000, as well as training and technical assistance, to assist up to ten communities in creating a specific plan to improve the health of children.
