All Campus Compact administrators and advisors have the opportunity to win grant money for student service projects. True Hero, Inc. awards grant money to schools and organizations in an effort to support students doing good work in their communities and around the world. The awards are granted to those student community service projects receiving the most eligible votes from the general public during the current school year at www.truehero.org.
In last year’s competition, Campus Compact schools combined to win $8,000 in True Hero grants. Campus Compact winning schools for the 2009-2010 competition include: Saint Anselm College, Villanova University, Marquette University, Indiana University, and University of Cincinnati. This year, a total of $20,000 in grants will be given away June 30, 2011.
To POST a service project, follow these easy steps:
1) Visit www.truehero.org and get a project posted…all you need is a short paragraph/description about a service project.
2) Get votes for your service project…send out an email blast to all your friends, family, faculty and fellow students with a link to the site and encourage them to vote for your project.
3) Come June 30th, seven grants will be given at the university/college level to the top seven vote getters.
*Other grants will be awarded to high school and community sponsored projects.
Winning is easy, you just have to get people to go online and vote! Check out www.truehero.org and see how easy it is to participate. We know it would be an amazing opportunity for all Campus Compact schools to participate; not only to win grant money, but to gain awareness for their service projects. If you have any questions, or if I can be of any assistance in getting a project posted, please let me know! Also, check out the newsletter below and learn more about the Campus Compact schools’ winning projects. We hope you will pass this along to your network and encourage school involvement.
2009-2010 Winners receive $35,000 in service grants from True Hero.
