America’s Great Outdoors: Developing the Next Generation of Conservationists, an initiative of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Bureau of Reclamation, aims to connect youth to the outdoors. The initiative brings together public and private partners to support organizations that are developing innovative conservation job opportunities for youth on public lands that expose young people, particularly urban and minority youth, to the natural world and career opportunities available in conservation. These matching grants of $40,000 to $100,000 are restricted to habitat and species restoration projects that directly benefit BLM and/or Reclamation facilities, lands, programs, or mission. Priority is given to programs that take place in the Western U.S. Visit the NFWF website to review the request for proposals.

Illinois Campus Compact is a tremendous resource for connecting with people in (and outside of) the state. Having their office located on our campus has been an extra benefit for those of us working on service-learning and civic engagement projects.
