Description
Coordinates student leadership development and civic engagement initiatives, programs, and services (including maintaining leadership and civic engagement resources). Directs the Boiler Volunteer Network and student leadership development programs. Plans and teaches leadership classes and workshops; advises leadership and community engagement related student groups; facilitates community engagement and service-learning experiences for students, faculty, and staff; serves as a liaison to the community.
Qualifications
Required:
Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field;
Three years’ leadership experience in developing, implementing and assessing innovative campus life programs, specifically student leadership development and civic engagement programs; leadership development curriculum design and instruction of college students;
Supervisory experience of professional, clerical and/or graduate student staff;
Excellent interpersonal skills working with a variety of institutional stakeholders, including faculty, in developing and enriching the co-curricular experience.
Superior communication skills and ability to collaborate with others and relate to people of all ages and backgrounds;
Knowledge of student development theory and student leadership development curriculum;
Presenting and teaching skills;
Understanding of strategic planning and assessment in higher education;
Cultural competence as it relates to a diverse community; and
Quick learner with attention to details.
Preferred:
Grant proposal writing or preparation experience; and
Familiarity of community service opportunities within the local area.
