Assistant Director for Leadership & Civic Engagement

The Assistant Director for Leadership and Civic Engagement (LCE) envisions, plans and implements leadership, service and civic engagement curricula and programs as part of a dynamic and respected team of educators in UVM’s Department of Student Life.
As Assistant Director you will:
- Develop curriculum for and conduct student leadership trainings
- Coordinate the Next Step social justice retreat
- Advise the Alternative Break programs and Volunteers in Action (VIA)
- Manage annual Leadership and Civic Engagement TREK
- Supervise two graduate assistants, graduate interns, and undergraduate staff members
- Manage budgets totaling $60,000; provide risk and financial oversight for LCE student clubs
- Oversee campus and community outreach for leadership and civic engagement opportunities
- Act as liaison with local, state, national, and international agencies
- Envision, plan and implement long-range LCE program strategies
- Collaborate with Student Life staff to shape the policies and practices that guide our work
- Partner with colleagues and students to cultivate an inclusive, socially just community that challenges and supports UVM students in their work to become change agents for a better world.
