General Description:
The Student Leadership, Involvement & Community Engagement (SLiCE) office offers a broad range of programs and services for Colorado State University students, faculty, staff, and the community in the areas of leadership development, involvement, volunteerism, and community-based research. Through the programs at SLiCE, students can find both support and resources to graduate as engaged, active participants and leaders in their local, national, and global communities.
The Assistant Director for Involvement has the primary responsibility for the development and implementation of student organization programs at Colorado State University which includes effective event planning, organizational and fiscal management, and leadership development. The Assistant Director will have an abiding concern for, and commitment to, serving the diverse needs of the university community, active promotion of an inclusive environment, and supporting the Lory Student Center as the focal point of campus life. The position reports to the Director of SLiCE.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education, or related field by start of employment.
• Minimum of three years of work experience in Student Affairs. (Two years of graduate school assistantship experience in Student Affairs equals one year of full-time experience.)
• Demonstrated experience in supervision, event planning, leadership development, facilitation, and working with and advising student organizations.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and social justice.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
• Demonstrated understanding of the value of integrating co-curricular learning experiences, service, and leadership development as related to total student development and the ability to articulate such to a varied public.
• Significant experience as a collaborative leader and administrator.
• Demonstrated experience working with a collegiate-level student government.
• Demonstrated knowledge of student development, leadership theory, and service learning.
• Demonstrated experience planning and implementing a wide variety of educational programs.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in working with students and colleagues as an educator, advisor, leader, and role model.
• Demonstrated experience with fiscal and risk management.
• Experience in marketing, public relations, and outreach.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills with knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Web applications, etc.
Salary: This is a mid-level administrative full-time position. Salary in the low $40’s (based on experience), plus benefits.
