Tenure-Track Assistant Professor – Higher Education
Merrimack College’s school of education invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in higher education to begin in the summer of 2011. The successful candidate will provide administrative and intellectual leadership to the newly created masters program in higher education. This program will have concentrations in student affairs, teaching and learning, community engagement, and leadership, theory and policy.
Merrimack College is a selective, independent four-year Catholic college offering liberal arts, business, science and engineering, and education programs within a residential setting. Merrimack’s distinguished faculty members teach a talented student body in a learning environment vigorously committed to the transforming values and benefits of the liberal arts. The school of education consists of the undergraduate department of education, graduate programs in education, the Graduate Institute for Education, and the newly formed Center for Youth and Families and the Center for an Engaged Democracy. The school of education is committed to excellence and equity, collaboration, engagement with its local and regional communities, and strives to develop its students within an Augustinian heritage of respect and social justice. The successful candidate will primarily teach core courses within the newly formed masters program in higher education, courses within his/her areas of concentration, and perform standard duties including student advisement, serve on departmental and college committees, and engage in scholarly activities. The successful candidate is expected to have areas of teaching and research expertise in one or more of the concentration areas of the program. Opportunities may exist to contribute to the development and implementation of the two new research centers. Applicants should have an earned doctoral degree in higher education or related field (e.g., educational policy) and experience in teaching, administration, and/or research in higher education.
