In preparation for the 2011-12 school year, Eskolta is expanding to offer the following positions: Data Analyst, Assistant School Developer, School Development Consultant. Core Job Qualifications: Any applicant for a job at Eskolta must be:

 A self-starter with the ability to move a project forward in a small, entrepreneurial environment

 A progressive thinker committed to reforming and improving NYC public schools

 Familiar with the public school environment—understanding the needs of urban youth is a plus

 Able to use public transportation for travel to and from school locations throughout NYC

 

Working Arrangements: All positions at Eskolta are flexible time, designed to allow responsible, driven, talented people to help improve public education while attending to family and other priorities outside work. In your cover letter, please indicate your preferred number of days per week to work (between 2 and 5) and your preferred number of weeks to work each year (between 36 and 48). Total preferred days should be no more than 200 per year.

Pay Levels: Given our flexible work arrangement (described above), employees working with Eskolta are paid based on the percentage of a maximum 200-day year that they work (for instance, someone working 100 days in a year would be paid for 50% time). The Assistant School Developer position may be an entry-level position for someone with fewer than 3 years experience in the workplace paid at a rate in the range of $35,000-$50,000 for a full 200-day year, or a higher-level position for someone with more than 5 years experience in the workplace paid at a rate $60,000-$90,000 for a 200-day year.

Eskolta is seeking a new member of our team who will bring strong research and writing skills to help in the development and documentation of school materials for grading, scheduling, goal-setting, and other uses in high schools.

Job Responsibilities:

 Conduct research on systems for promoting meaningful learning in public schools

 Join School Development Consultants on visits to schools around New York City

 Support Consultants in analysis of student work, projects, or assessment results

 Take effective notes on school-based discussions

 Turn research and notes into cogent documents describing school systems and practice

 Use editing and design to make documents clear for principals, teachers, and others

 

Job Qualifications:

 Excellent writing skills; experience in journalism is a plus

 Strong research skills

 Ability to quickly and efficiently synthesize information into clear text

 Ability to use visuals and graphic design to enhance written text

 Candidates with significant experience writing on themes related to public education will be considered for higher pay levels
