Break Away: The Alternative Break Connection is excited to begin the search for another alternative break die hard to join our staff full-time. Below is a detailed job description, but in summary, this individual would join our small staff and be primarily responsible for the development of our work with communities that receive alternative breakers – both direct service organizations and housing contacts. He or she would also be immediately and heavily involved in planning and leading small group workshops and trainings with our campus chapter school programs during the fall and summer.
The Break Away Community Partner Coordinator is a full time position with Break Away, responsible for providing products and services to Break Away’s alternative break community partners. This includes maintaining and creating high quality trainings, manuals, curriculum, building and maintaining the SiteBank, and other services that will benefit and grow membership. The successful Community Partner Coordinator will possess a thorough knowledge of Break Away programs, small workshop facilitation, and volunteer management. Applicants should view this position as one in which to gain experience in a dynamic and creative nonprofit, working to support over 150 college and university alternative break programs and close to 500 community partners nationally and internationally.
Having created and felt confident and capable in leading trainings (on topics such as Recruitment, Fundraising, Group Dynamics, Strategic Planning, Policy Development, etc.) for alternative break leaders or participants would certainly be beneficial in this role; however we are looking for someone who has proven their ability to do the job we have outlined below, has the ability to flourish and be creative in autonomous work, brings strength to team based work, has enjoyed informal mentoring, is good with people, has integrity and a respectable attention span, and is thrifty, kind and funny.
