GENERAL DUTIES
Directs College communications and public relations efforts.
– Establishes goals consistent with the College mission and works collaboratively with senior management to develop short- and long-range plans to further College outreach
– Develops and maintains comprehensive press, public relations, and internal communications strategies
– Represents the College to a variety of external and community organizations, establishing good working relationships and two-way communications on areas of common interest
– Oversees College web site and other major communications vehicles, such as publications
– Plans, organizes, and implements special events including conferences, receptions, and informational programs
– Develops and implements campaigns to foster awareness of College activities and initiatives
– Researches and develops speeches and other critical communications by senior management
– Maintains media relationships and serves as spokesperson representing the College
– Identifies and leverages opportunities to promote the visibility and reputation of the College.
– Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Reporting to the Professional School Senior Associate Dean for Institutional Advancement, the
Communications and College Relations Director manages all Law School communications and public relations efforts, including those of the Development Office, Office of Alumni Affairs, Admissions Office,
External Affairs Office, Student Services, Main Street Legal Services, the Law School Foundation, and the Community Legal Resource Network. Serves as the chief spokesperson representing the Law School in local, regional, and national media. Establishes goals and objectives consistent with the Law School’s public interest mission and works collaboratively with the Senior Associate Dean and other senior administrators. The Director shares responsibility with the other senior officers for setting goals and strategies to improve the Law School’s public image to the legal community, the public interest community, and beyond. The Director will work closely with the Dean’s Office and will reach out to students, faculty and staff to remain abreast of Law School activities and to facilitate effective communications among the key constituencies and supporters of the Law School. Develops and maintains comprehensive press, public relations and internal communication strategies. Oversees and manages the content of the Law School website and production of Law School publications, brochures, catalogs and press releases. Develops and implements campaigns to foster awareness of the Law School and its graduates.
This job may include evening and weekend duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and eight years’ related experience required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
B.A. in journalism, communications, or other relevant field and at least eight years of related experience required. Master’s degree in relevant field preferred and may substitute for up to two years of the required experience. The successful candidate will have superlative written and oral communication skills, strong computer skills, and familiarity with database and desktop publishing applications. S/he will have strong organizational and project management skills, a proven track record managing multiple tasks and projects, excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, and the ability to work in a culturally diverse environment. Experience in a higher educational institution preferred. Expertise in photography or other graphic arts also preferred.
COMPENSATION
$68,803 – $106,071
Commensurate with qualification and experience.
