Community Coordinator

St. Lawrence University - Canton, NY

St. Lawrence University seeks a Community Coordinator to join the staff of the University’s Sustainability Semester and Center for Civic Engagement. In both roles the Community Coordinator will assist in development of a strong living/learning community and leadership skills among students, and the development and maintenance of relationships with broader community partners. The Community Coordinator will create and implement curriculum relating to the topics of food preservation for the Sustainability Semester and leadership and professional development for the Center for Civic Engagement. The Community Coordinator will live at the Sustainability Semester site, and be a fully participating member of the resident community of students and staff, practicing a simple and sustainable lifestyle. She/he will report to the Director of the Sustainability Semester and the Director of Community Based Learning Partnerships.

The Community Coordinator will have the following qualifications/attributes:
•Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively teach leadership, community living and food preservation skills
•Proven, quality record keeping skills; experience with Microsoft Excel
•Demonstrated experience with home-scale food preservation
•Ability to enforce rules and manage student conflict
•Interest in living a simple, sustainable lifestyle in community
•Bachelor’s degree required
•Experience in the residential life field helpful
