The Coordinator Leadership and Community Service-Learning (LCSL)- America Reads*America Counts works to create transformative student learning through establishing and enhancing meaningful and sustainable relationships with local community partners who are addressing pressing social needs in the Prince George’s County School System. The Coordinator provides leadership in the planning and implementation of student centered services, programs, advocacy, student advising and research initiatives for the America Reads*America Counts programs. AR*AC provides University of Maryland students the opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience as Reading and Math Mentors in an effort to ensure that children can read and perform basic math skills well and independently. This position reports to the Assistant Director Adele H. Stamp Student Union – Center of Campus Life (Leadership and Community Service- Learning).
Qualifications:
Required
• Masters degree in a field of education, counseling, student affairs, higher education, public policy or related field.
• 2 years professional experience or equivalent in a field of education, student development, leadership and community service-learning or related field
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: supervision of college students, program management, campus-community partnerships, elementary school teaching, reading tutoring, community service, service-learning, grant writing, assessment and evaluation, and work in an education setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving skills in the context of interpersonal and group relations
• Demonstrated effectiveness in working with college students, colleagues, and community constituents as educator, advisor, and leader
• Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to public service, social justice, and diversity; solid understanding of and appreciation for cultural, ethnic, and individual differences
• Demonstrated experience with fiscal management, fundraising, risk management, contract negotiation, personnel management, and supervision of a diverse staff
• Ability to communicate effectively, both in public speaking and in writing
Remuneration: This position is a 12-month, full-time exempt status, salary range 41,000.00 to 43,000.00, commensurate with qualification and experience. Excellent benefits package, including health insurance, sick and annual leave, retirement subsidy, and tuition remission.
