Santa Clara University invites nominations and applications for its Dean of Academic Support Services. The Dean is the director of the University’s Drahmann Advising and Learning Resources Center and is the key leader of the University’s faculty-based advising and academic support systems.
The Dean is responsible for academic monitoring, tutoring and learning assistance programs, development and support of faculty advising, supplemental advising to students in difficulty and returning students, outreach to and academic support for special populations such as students of color and first-generation students, and collaboration with freshman and transfer orientations and the campus Residential Learning Communities. In addition, the position advances advising and learning resources in partnership with deans, faculty, chairs, program directors and academic staff on a campus-wide basis.
The Dean supervises a staff of 14-plus people, including operational support staff, University Advisors, University Faculty Advisors and a Web/Technology Coordinator.
Qualifications include: Master’s Degree required. Ph.D. or other terminal degree in student affairs, higher education administration or an academic discipline preferred. Five-plus years of experience (or the equivalent) in a university setting with some direct advising-related experience are required.
