Frontier Nursing University Development Officer/Courier Coordinator
Open: Hyden (KY) Office or Lexington Office

I. Statement of Purpose

The Development Officer will work with the Director of Development and Alumni Relations to build and sustain successful relationships with students, Couriers, alumni, donors, foundations, corporations and government supporters. This position will be responsible for a variety of development tasks.

This position works with the Director of Development and Alumni Relations and the Development Team to strategize and implement the annual campaign, major gifts campaign, planned giving program, membership initiatives, and special campaigns; helps design and implement donor recognition events, and publication of fund-raising materials. Additionally, this position will manage the development, implementation and evaluation of the FNU Courier Program, a service-learning internship program for college students.

II. Major Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

Alumni and donor relations

  • Assist with planning for alumni and donor events
  • Assist with development of communications materials and publications
  • Assist with other special projects
  • Work with Marketing Department to promote FNU and acquire new donors through partnerships with similar organizations/businesses regionally and nationally

Courier Program

  • Develop Courier policies and procedures for Couriers and clinical sites
  • Develop marketing plan
  • Design Courier Bound and Wendover Completion agendas
  • Design Courier assignments and reflections
  • Recruit clinical sites for participation
  • Work with Regional Clinical Coordinators to approve sites
  • Recruit host families and handle logistics of placement
  • Courier recruitment – travel to targeted colleges and universities and areas of the country to recruit Couriers
  • Act as main contact for Couriers and clinical sites throughout the internship
  • Weekly monitoring of Couriers
  • Evaluation of program
  • Work with development to seek funding to support program maintenance and growth

III.Skills and abilities required

  1. Master’s Degree required.
  2. Excellent computer skills including: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access etc.)
  3. Ability to work productively, creatively, and independently
  4. Strong writing skills and communication skills
  5. Experience in service-learning programs
  6. Ability to work in a team environment
  7. Able to engage in frequent travel

IV. Reporting Relationship
This position reports directly to the FNU Director of Development and Alumni Relations
