Willamette University announces a full-time position for a Director of Community Outreach Program. The Director is responsible for providing community service opportunities for Willamette students within the Salem community and surrounding area by establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with non-profit organizations and public agencies.
The Director is primarily responsible for developing and enhancing service opportunities for students within the Salem community and surrounding area. Works on a variety of duties and responsibilities that may have a recognizable impact upon the operations of Campus Life and Salem-area non-profit organizations and public agencies. Involves a significant level of contact with students, faculty, and staff as well as with individuals and organizations outside of the organization. May be required to travel locally in the performance of his or her job functions.
This is a full-time 12-month administrative appointment (year round) and offers an attractive benefits package.
Qualifications:
1. Must possess the education, training, and/or experience necessary to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position. A Bachelor’s degree required with a Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Social Work or related area strongly preferred.
2. Minimum two years of experience working in community outreach and with academic service-learning model required.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multiple constituencies in a collaborative manner.
4. Excellent presentation, writing, and instructional skills.
5. Skills and abilities in the areas of program development, staff supervision and budget management.
6. Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
7. A strong commitment to multiculturalism.
8. Grant-writing experience desired.
9. Successful clearance of a criminal conviction record check.
10. Ability to work independently as well as establish and maintain harmonious relations with students, faculty, and staff.
