Missouri State University is accepting applications for a Director, Citizenship and Service Learning. Responsibilities include the coordination of all Citizenship and Service-Learning activities; recruiting participants in the program, promoting the scholarship of civic engagement, and encouraging publication and dissemination of outcomes of civic engagement activities; providing guidance for incorporating service-learning into the classroom experience; and seeking external funding to support the program beyond what the University provides and working cooperatively with University administrators to facilitate program development.
Master’s degree is required; an earned doctorate is preferred. Additional requirements include three years of leadership or management experience in higher education or the public sector; experience in collaborating with public and private not-for-profit agencies; a commitment to the maintenance of academic integrity in service-learning experiences; experience interacting with diverse groups of students, staff, faculty, and external constituencies; experience developing and managing program budgets; strong oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills; organizational, management, and supervisory skills; and research and analytical skills. A record of scholarship and/or teaching experience in higher education; familiarity with college student life issues; and demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with diverse faculty, staff, and students are preferred.
