Metropolitan State University is accepting applications for a Director of the Institute for Community Engagement and Scholarship (ICES), formerly the Center for Community-Based Learning (CCBL). The responsibility of this position is to integrate community engagement, community action and civic engagement into the fabric of the university. The director serves as the administrator of the nationally recognized program providing leadership to the university’s Academic Internship program, School, Youth and Family Outreach program, American Democracy Project, youth literacy initiatives, Community-University Library-Community Outreach program, Individualized Study Abroad and the Community-Based Learning program.
Responsibilities:
• Facilitate the development of civic and community engagement curriculum and co-curricular activities.
• Direct the coordination and assessment of community engaged program activities across the university.
• Assist faculty members in the integration of community work into their courses.
• Integrate community engagement activities across the spectrum of university initiatives.
• Facilitate campus wide communication as it relates to community engagement.
• Develop and implement civic engagement policies and procedures pertaining to programs.
• Develop and manage the annual budget.
• Secure funding from public and private sources to support the advancement of community engagement and scholarship.
• Cultivate and sustain multi-faceted partnerships between the university and community organizations and agencies.
• Hire and supervise staff and student workers who work in the ICES.
• Provide and encourage professional development and training.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree.
Required Qualifications:
• Seven (7) years of demonstrated leadership experience working with community organizations.
• Proven history of academic and administrative program development and management.
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial management and revenue development including grant writing and administration.
• Commitment to serving a student population which includes a culturally diverse student body and both traditional and non traditional aged students.
• Ability to manage a diverse staff and complex set of activities.
• Experience in creating partnerships with external entities and academic colleagues across disciplinary lines.
• Excellent communication, organizational and management skills.
• Knowledge of local, state and national trends, issues, organizations, opportunities and resources pertaining to community based learning.
• Ability to establish and maintain rapport with faculty and community members.
• Leadership experience working with diverse community agencies.
• Ability to conduct workshops and programming presentations at the local, state and national level.
• Ability to present information to top administrators in an informative and persuasive manner.

Salary: This is a Minnesota State University Association of Administrative and Service Faculty (MSUAASF) Range E position with a salary range of $51,604 (minimum) to $89,856 (maximum). Salary is commensurate with education and experience, and is determined by the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) and the MSUAASF organization.
