Wayne State University seeks a highly qualified and dynamic leader for the Office for Teaching and Learning. We seek a nationally respected individual who will be a strong force for continuously improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning in all modes of educational delivery including face-to-face, online, and hybrid. Wayne State University sees teaching effectiveness as foundational to student success, retention, and graduation. The Office for Teaching and Learning is the central organization to support effective and innovative instruction, and actively researches best practice and advocates for sound and effective approaches to teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate with academic credentials consistent with secondary faculty appointment in an appropriate academic department. Additionally, we expect the Director to have advanced studies and publication in at least one of the following areas: psychology of learning, instructional design/technology, faculty development, education and pedagogy, and/or teacher education. We seek an individual with a minimum of five years of college teaching experience, as well as a minimum of five years of experience in research, educational, or other administration with progressive responsibility. Experience in college faculty development is preferred. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written, and oral communication as well as administrative, organizational, and collaborative leadership.
