The University of Oregon’s Holden Center in partnership with the undergraduate Family and Human Services Program within the College of Education’s Department of Counseling Psychology and Human Services is seeking a full time Director of the Service Learning Program/Assistant Director of the Holden Center to sustain and advance service learning, community based learning and development and leadership training. Located 110 miles south of Portland, the University of Oregon has an enrollment of 20,000. The Eugene metro area (pop. 215,000) is in a region noted for its dynamic quality of life and progressive cultural environment. We are about an hour’s drive from the Pacific coast and the Cascade Mountains. The University is an AAU research institution and a member of the Pac-10 conference. This position is a unique opportunity in the field of student affairs, focusing on the creation and development of experiential learning environments that incorporate diversity, student development theory and service learning and community based teaching and learning methodology. Primary responsibilities include administration of the Service Learning Program, including curriculum and program development, direct service to students and community organizations and supervision of professional, paraprofessional and student staff.

Candidates must possess a Masters Degree from an accredited university/college, five to seven years of higher education experience relating to service learning, knowledge of and experience with the application of student development theories, intercultural competence, strong administrative and organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities and strong interpersonal skills including excellent written and verbal communication.

Preferred candidates will possess experience working with advisory and volunteer boards, demonstrated ability to work with K-12 educational agencies and non-profits, and will have instructed in a classroom setting. As well, preferred candidates will possess research and writing experience in the fields of experiential learning, service learning, leadership education or student learning in a co-curricular context.
