Institutional Summary: Maine Campus Compact (MCC) is a statewide coalition of 18 college and university presidents established to encourage and support the civic mission of higher education. MCC encourages campus-community partnerships that build on the strengths of communities and higher education institutions to address significant social and environmental problems. MCC fosters education models, including service-learning, that develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to solve these problems over the long term. MCC is affiliated with the national campus network of 35 state Compacts, over 1100 campuses, and a national office.
Position: Executive Director. Full-time position to begin late Spring to early Summer 2012.
Duties: Continuing to build an effective organization that is responsive to current and emergent issues identified by member campuses or the service-learning field. Cultivate and promote the long range vision and mission of MCC; develop, manage, and assess programs in alignment with MCC mission and strategic priorities; provide consultation, resources and assistance to member institutions in their development as engaged campuses via grants, AmeriCorps programs, and professional development; and administer the budget, collect fees and dues, manage grants and provide the Board with appropriate reports. Starting Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Qualifications: Entrepreneurial nature with demonstrated ability to raise funds from government, foundation and individual sources; ability to work independently; excellent written and oral communication skills; comprehensive knowledge of, and passion for, the principles and practices of college-level service learning and civic engagement; progressive leadership experience in program management and/or program development in a college or university setting, or in a nonprofit organization working with or on behalf of a college or university; understanding of nonprofit structure and ability to work collaboratively with a board; proficiency in developing professional development programs; evidence of successful collaborative leadership; experience in goal development, program planning, and project management; experience supervising professional staff; and experience in program assessment and evaluation. Advanced degree preferred, faculty experience helpful.
