Assistant Director for Service Programs

Kansas Campus Compact - Manhattan, KS

Kansas Campus Compact, a part of the School of Leadership Studies at Kansas State University, invites applications for the grant-funded, 12-month term position of Assistant Director for Service Programs.

Kansas Campus Compact is a state-wide membership organization for institutions of higher education that builds and strengthens the collective commitment and capacity of those who teach, study at, work with, and lead Kansas colleges and universities to integrate a commitment to civic engagement and responsibility into the higher educational learning environment.

The duties of the position entail program management for our 200-person statewide AmeriCorps program, Careers for the Common Good. In this role, he or she will be responsible for promoting participation in the program, supporting campus liaisons at the member campuses across the state, training participating students in the obligations of the program, managing reporting for the grant, and some publicity. The individual will also serve as the project coordinator for the Commemorate Kansas/Serve Kansas mini-grant program designed to promote service-learning activities across Kansas higher education in conjunction with Kansas Day 2011. This position is a grant-funded position through July 31, 2011.

We seek an individual who wishes to work in a collaborative and progressive environment with a small and dedicated staff alongside innovative faculty members in fostering a lifetime service ethic among college students. We value qualified candidates who can bring to our program a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Earned bachelor’s degree;
  2. Demonstrated experience with managing grant reporting and accountability;
  3. Demonstrated experience recruiting and coordinating volunteers; and
  4. Computer skills sufficient to manage and expand online training and grant management system.

*Applicants with experience working with college-age youth and/or service in or experience with AmeriCorps or AmeriCorps*VISTA will be given additional preference.

In addition, each applicant should list names and contact information of three individuals who can speak to the applicant’s qualifications for this position. Review of applications will begin on June 14, 2010, and will continue until the position is filled. Effective starting date of this appointment is August 1, 2010.
