National Program Manager, American Association of State Colleges and Universities

The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) seeks a Program Manager in the division of Academic Leadership and Change (ALC). The position has primary responsibility for directing the American Democracy Project (ADP). ADP is a national network of universities focused on higher education’s role in preparing informed, engaged citizens for our democracy. The project currently involves 230 participating universities representing almost two million students. The Program Manager plans and implements the ADP annual national meeting, as well as managing the Project’s day-to-day activities.  The Program Manager coordinates the division’s social networking and media outreach for both ADP and other Division projects. The National Program Manager also serves as editor for the Academic Leadership and Change Digest series, a national resource for member institution vice presidents and provosts.

Program Management duties include the following:

  • Provides strategic vision and leadership for AASCU’s various programmatic initiatives, including civic engagement (American Democracy Project) and institutional transformation (Red Balloon Project). Manages day-to-day operations and implementation of initiatives.
  • In collaboration with others, responsible for program development, design, and implementation of various initiatives.
  • Works closely with member campuses on project activities
  • Manages budgets for various ALC projects
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with national partner organizations
  • Implements extensive communications outreach strategies for ALC and ADP
  • Represents AASCU at national meetings and conferences; make presentations about AASCU initiatives
  • Conducts project research
  • Undertakes other functions and responsibilities as directed by the Vice President for Academic Leadership and Change

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Affairs, English, Communications or a comparable field required
  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office products
  • Familiar with current Web design practices
  • Administrative mastery of the following social networking tools: Twitter, Facebook, WordPress, YouTube, Flickr, Facebook, etc.
  • Demonstrated success in program management and implementation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration or related field
  • Supervisory experience
