Peace Corps Preps for 50th Anniversary with New Jobs

Peace Corps - National & International,

The Peace Corps traces its roots and mission to 1960, when then Senator John F. Kennedy challenged students at the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries. From that inspiration grew an agency of the federal government devoted to world peace and friendship.

Since that time, more than 195,000 Peace Corps Volunteers dedicated two years of their lives to serve in 139 countries around the world to work on issues related to the following areas: education, youth outreach and community development; business development; agriculture and environment; health and HIV/AIDS; and information technology.

In preparation for its 50th anniversary in 2011, Peace Corps is growing in the number of available Volunteer positions available and is actively recruiting service-minded individuals to fill these positions.
