Political Managment Internship on Capital Hill

The Campaign for Limited Government - Washington, DC

THE CAMPAIGN FOR LIMITED GOVERNMENT is offering management internships for students and recent graduates interested in becoming a part of a new generation of political leaders.

Management interns are selected with the expectation that they are willing to play a leadership role in the project or projects they select for their term with us.

An exceptional level of commitment and initiative is expected from those who chose to participate in our program. In exchange we offer the opportunity to make a meaningful difference on one or more projects and have a lasting impact on public policy and the Nation’s political environment.

THE CAMPAIGN FOR LIMITED GOVERNMENT is also excited to announce we will be organizing a program for young leaders at the August 2012 GOP National Convention in Tampa Florida. These individuals will be a key part of a Republican strategy for building support among young people and will enjoy a unique opportunity to network with other young leaders and top Republicans from around the nation.

Currently, there are 3 major projects where our interns will play a management role:

1. THE MADISON AMENDMENT

is intended to restore a balance of state and federal power by giving states the same power as Congress to propose an individual amendment to the U.S. Constitution without the risk of a runaway convention.

Members of our intern management team will help build grassroots support for the Madison Amendment around the nation. Working from Capital Hill, team members will develop interest for state-initiated constitutional reform among state legislators and Members of Congress.

The Madison Amendment has been called “the single most potent antidote to the growth of big government”. Proposed originally by Ed Meese while serving as Ronald Reagan’s Attorney General and drafted by a legal team led by David Rivkin who is currently (Fact checked 08/25) counsel for the 28 [i]states suing to overturn Obamacare,

Since its introduction in 2010 the Madison Amendment has received bipartisan support in Congress and the legislative leaders in more than 20 states. The Amendment has also been endorsed by conservative leaders like Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, CPAC Chair David Keene 2011 and 2008 McCain campaign chairman Charlie Black.

The long term strategy for the Madison Amendment is to form a bipartisan coalition of state legislators in 34 states to pass resolutions that would persuade Congress to propose the Madison Amendment for ratification as early as 2012.

For more information see www.MadisonAmendment.org.

2. GOP YOUTH CONVENTION is a national organization with a mission to find and mentor the next generation of grassroots leaders who can help to rebuild a Republican majority among young voters.

Founded in 2008 with Honorary Co-Chairs Michael Steele, Newt Gingrich, and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, GOP Youth Convention offers interns hands on experience organizing Capitol Hill programs including breakfasts with members of Congress, happy hour networking opportunities, special events to discuss important issues, and our annual GOP National Youth Convention where young people have a chance to debate and vote on their recommendations for a GOP Platform and Rules for the 2012 Convention.

Management interns will also have the opportunity to develop the GOP Youth Convention’s national networking programs, including our 2012 GOP National Convention project.

3. MILITARY VOTING RIGHTS USA has championed the rights of military voters since 2008.

Military Voting Rights USA has fought to assure Service members serving overseas full participation in the selection of presidential delegates in states where one of both political parties hold a caucus to select those delegates

Military Voting Rights USA is also working to pass legislation to cut in half the time required to deliver military ballots mail from overseas by ending the U.S. Postal Service monopoly on the delivery of those ballots.

Management interns will work to develop grassroots networks of veterans and others interested in military voting rights to contact legislators and party leaders who will have an impact on the rights of military voters.
