Qualifications
A Master’s degree in a relevant area of specialization; or a Bachelor’s degree in education, marketing, business, social science, science, technology, engineering, math, or related field and two years of relevant experience. Experience may include a combination of employment, internship and/or significant community service in a community-based learning environment, higher education, or a non-profit setting.
Requirements
Knowledge of theory and methodology associated with experiential, community-based, or service-learning. Motivated to provide only the highest level of professional customer service to college/university staff, business/community partners and governmental leaders. Ability to establish effective learning partnerships in a wide range of environments among collegiate faculty, staff, students and community organizations throughout the state of Florida. Ability to develop appropriate learning design/materials for college students. Ability to work with college faculty and staff in preparing community-based curricula. Ability to work collaboratively in team-centered environment as well as independently. Excellent oral, written, networking, interpersonal, organizational and budgeting skills. Must have experience working with statewide or multifaceted initiatives. A proven track record that demonstrates a high degree of self-directed capability, integrity and responsibility in the conduct of duties.
Proof of a valid driver’s license. A police background check is required.
Preferred
A proactive, independent worker who is not only self-directed but one who also takes the initiative to offer creative ideas, solutions and problem solving for the benefit of the entire organization. Previous work with Campus Compact programming and experience in training, event planning, strategic planning and/or marketing is preferred. Experience coordinating and assessing large professional development events and activities is preferred. Previous state or federal grant management experience is also preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, internet research, and social networking media is a plus.
Other Information
This position is offered through a program at FSU called Florida Campus Compact (FL|CC). The FL|CC office is located off-campus at 1801 Miccosukee Commons Drive, in Tallahassee, Florida. Florida Campus Compact is a state-wide entity, affiliated with a national organization. Travel and overtime will be required during conferences and events or to meet project deadlines. As a part of the FL|CC team, this person will encourage and assist the development of instructional programs and co-curricular activities related to community-based learning. Serve as advocate to students, faculty, staff and community partners for service-learning. Develop, conduct and/or arrange training for students, faculty, staff and community partners in the use of community-based learning methods. Foster partnerships among students, faculty, staff and community organizations that utilize student service to meet mutual interests. Assist in the design and assessment of civic engagement and community-based learning. Develop materials and resources on student leadership development, community needs assessments, reciprocal partnerships, Community Federal Work Study service internships, student-centered learning methodologies, outcome assessments, and other related materials for students, faculty, staff and community organizations. Collect and maintain a central file of best practices and resources for use by and dissemination to member institutions. Work with other FL|CC staff and students/staff/faculty at member institutions to design and implement trainings to build skills and infrastructure on member campuses. Organize conferences, trainings, workshops, awards, media events, and meetings to foster the exchange of information on best practices in co-curricular and curricular service-learning.

The position is funded by contract and grant monies.
Time Limited
This position is time limited. (Subject to available funding, this grant is expected to support programming for three years.)
Responsibilities
The Program Coordinator is responsible for promoting best practices in service-learning and related community-based learning activities on college campuses across the state of Florida. This includes helping colleges and universities develop, implement and enhance programs that incorporate a pedagogy of learning through service and civic practice. This will primarily be done in connection with a three-year grant funded initiative aimed at expanding service-learning in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) disciplines. The person in this position will be responsible for supporting and assessing a series of STEM-themed events and programming around the State of Florida; coordinating all related sub-grant programming tied to the initiative; providing support to faculty and staff to complete all required reporting and training in order to access additional funding for programming; collecting and summarizing all data for funder reports to advance the overall effort of the program; making recommendations for improving the program’s successes; overseeing the RFP and review process for selecting new sub-grantee locations; creating and facilitating new grantee orientations and meetings; making connections to other FL|CC programming; working with relevant business offices to finalize subcontracts and maintain accurate budgetary recordkeeping; and, participating in other duties related to the advancement of FL|CC programs and mission. This person will also work with other FL|CC staff and outside consultants to create online training modules, a website for capturing and disseminating the successes of the overall initiative, and marketing materials to increase awareness of FL|CC’s efforts.
This person recommends to staff, faculty, students, and administrators, the policies and best practices regarding the institutionalization of service-learning at participating institutions throughout the state of Florida; recommends the integration of service-learning and community-based learning activities to personnel; recommends recognition of exceptional institutional and individual practices; recommends the redesign of collegiate programming to department heads and staff; suggests infrastructure and policies regarding student and community development through engaged scholarship; assists FL|CC Associate Director and others with overall direction for the organization while advising on state and national initiatives as they relate to educating and preparing students as engaged citizens and professionals.
