Qualifications
A Master’s degree in education, social science, public administration, marketing or related field; or a Bachelor’s degree in the same and two years of relevant experience. Experience may include a combination of employment, internship and/or significant community service in a community-based learning environment, higher education, or a non-profit setting.
Requirements
Knowledge of theory and methodology associated with experiential, community-based, or service-learning, AmeriCorps, and/or K-12 mentoring programs. Motivated to provide only the highest level of professional customer service to college/university staff, students and business/community partners. Ability to establish effective partnerships in a wide range of environments among collegiate faculty, staff, students, K-12 school districts and community organizations. Knowledge of grant and sub-grant contract administration. Ability to utilize public speaking skills. Ability to develop appropriate learning design/materials for college students and volunteers. Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events. Ability to work collaboratively in team-centered environment as well as independently. Excellent oral, written, networking, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Experience working with statewide or multifaceted initiatives. A proven track record that demonstrates a high degree of self-directed capability, integrity and responsibility in the conduct of duties. Proof of a valid driver’s license. A police background check is required.
Preferred
A proactive, independent worker who is not only self-directed but one who also takes the initiative to offer creative ideas, solutions and problem solving for the benefit of the entire organization. Previous work experience includes working with an AmeriCorps program and/or Campus Compact, or coordinating K-12 mentoring programs for youth. Experience in training, event planning, strategic planning and/or marketing is preferred. Experience coordinating and assessing large professional development events and activities is preferred. Previous state or federal grant management experience is also preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, internet research, and social networking media is a plus.
Other Information
This position is offered through a program at FSU called Florida Campus Compact (FL|CC). FL|CC is a membership organization of over 50 college and university presidents committed to helping students develop the values and skills of active citizenship through participation in public and community service. FL|CC works with these presidents and their campuses to integrate service with academic study and to provide a collegial experience for intercampus and community collaborations. The FL|CC office is located off-campus at 1801 Miccosukee Commons Drive, in Tallahassee, Florida. FL|CC is a state-wide entity, affiliated with a national organization. Travel and overtime will be required during conferences and events or to meet project deadlines.

This position is funded through 8/31/2011 and may be extended, subject to continued funding.
Responsibilities
The Training Specialist is responsible for developing and coordinating training events and resources for the FL|CC College Access AmeriCorps Program. This program will engage nearly 500 students, faculty, and staff at several Florida colleges and universities along with K-12 school districts and community partners. The Training Specialist assists in the development of associated training policies and procedures. Researches, plans and designs program orientation and training materials, manuals and technical documentation in print and media format for the College Access Corps. Distributes materials to participating colleges and universities across Florida via print and media. Coordinates and facilitates orientation and training events for participating colleges and universities. Assesses implementation and delivery and makes recommendations for improvement. Provides technical and programming assistance to participating colleges and universities to develop and access community mentoring placements. Develops content related to orientation and training resources, member service reflections, and member and site recognition for the program and coordinates publishing to program website.
Pay Plan
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
Salary Range Position will be filled at $30,000.
