UCLA Center for Community Learning invites applications for the position of Assistant Director. The Assistant Director is responsible for day-to-day operations, working with graduate students, faculty, staff, and community partners to achieve the goals of the Center. Specifically, the Assistant Director will supervise a team of graduate students who supervise, mentor and coordinate a variety of programs. Also, he or she will be involved with marketing the Center’s activities and in program development, such as public speaking and building bridges with other campus entities and off-campus partners.
Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. is required, in addition to prior experience working with community partners. The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of civic engagement in higher education as well as the theory and practice of service learning pedagogy, and awareness of best practices and current research; have demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively in programs and activities involving faculty, staff, students and community organizations; possess demonstrated effective supervisory skills, flexibility and attention to detail while keeping in mind the overall mission; and must be able to independently troubleshoot and resolve problems with minimal supervision from the Center Director.
