Position Summary
Utah Campus Compact is a coalition of Utah college and university presidents and their campuses. It provides leadership to strengthen service-learning, co-curricular service, community-based research, and other civic engagement initiatives statewide. The Executive Director is the primary administrator for the organization and an essential link to the Campus Compact national network.
Responsibilities
- Work with the governing board of college and university presidents and member campuses to promote civic engagement statewide
- Oversee fiscal and administrative management of Utah Campus Compact, including staff supervision, VISTA member supervision, budget management, revenue collection, and fiscal compliance
- Develop annual budget, organizational goals, and long-range strategic plans, using feedback from constituents
- Engage in grant writing or other development activities to ensure sustainability
- Provide grant oversight and reporting for two federal grants (AmeriCorps and VISTA)
- Plan and implement conferences and other professional development events for faculty, students, and civic engagement staff
- Provide technical assistance and support to member campuses as they strengthen and expand civic engagement initiatives and programs
- Create and distribute network communications and best practices to member institutions through newsletters, reports, and website
- Conduct assessment as needed with member campuses or appropriate entities
- Serve as a liaison to the national Campus Compact organization
- Maintain member database and historical records
- Travel and occasional evening/weekend work is required
Qualifications
- Master’s degree required*
- 3 years experience required with volunteer and/or service-learning programs (preferably in the context of higher education)
- 1 year experience required with managing staff
- Demonstrated experience with national service programs (AmeriCorps, VISTA)
- Demonstrated experience with financial management
- Demonstrated experience with grant management and fund development
- Demonstrated experience with large-event coordination
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Skill in building partnerships and relating effectively with diverse constituents, ranging from students to higher education presidents
- Ability to work independently
- Comprehensive knowledge and skilled use of Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
*The selection committee will also consider applicants with a bachelor’s degree AND five years of experience with volunteer and/or service-learning programs.
Utah Campus Compact will consider hiring a faculty member from the state system of higher education in Utah to serve for a three to five-year period, after which they may be able to negotiate returning to employment with their home campus.
Start Date: July 1, 2012
Utah Campus Compact offers an annual salary range of $50,000-$55,000 (depending on education and experience) and an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, tuition reduction, job-related tuition reimbursement, and retirement.
