Wanted: English and/or math gurus willing to share their expertise with refugee children.

If you want to help boost the academic skills of elementary and high school kids, we would love to hear from you. Nurture the English-speaking and scholastic abilities of needy refugee kids, one tutoring session at a time. This is a perfect opportunity for active and retired teachers, or college students who are majoring in Education or English as a Second Language. However, we welcome committed volunteers from all professions who are passionate about bolstering the academic confidence of children.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and pass a complete background and drug screening.
  • Experience working with youth is a plus.
  • Bilingual (particularly in Haitian Creole and Spanish) is a plus
  • Flexibility. The volunteer schedule in the school year leans towards late afternoons, evenings and weekends. During the summer, activities are held in the late mornings and afternoons.
